So I wore the pink tutu I bought online from Princess Polly recently. I love it so much but the tulle did start to itch a bit! I wore it with a Scanlan & Theodore black silk top which I knotted at the waist, Wittner black patent Amber pumps and my black Chanel bag.

So Vanessa Hudgens (VeneXXXa - love that) wore this little ensemble in Vegas over the weekend and despite copping some flack for it on various celeb fashion blogs I actually really really like it. Her lob (long bob) looks absolutely amazing, and yeah the head jeweles are a little dated and kind of Nicole Ritchie's thing but I still think it suits the outfit.

The mismatched playsuit and shawl is super fun, and the anklet tops of the whole 70's vibe that this outfit has going on.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy or is this cute?

Here's my new boots for the coming Winter, they'll join my Sportsgirl khaki lace up wedge booties and black suede over the knee pair as my faves. Now all I need is a pair of the Tony Bianco grey over the knee suede ones and I'll be set !

Marcia black lace up boots by Sambag - I'm wearing these today and love them! Really comfy with a heel that doesn't actually feel like you're wearing heels. Big plus.

Asos Ames suede ankle boots in camel, I bought these when there was 30% off new season shoes the other week and I really really love them. I wore them last Friday though and they were kind of hard to stand in for a prolonged period of time, especially on an uneven surface. I'll have to give these a bit more of a chance and wear them in a bit because I have countless Winter outfit ideas that I want to wear them with - most include chunky knits, ponchos and legging pants.

Sambag Eryn boots in steel grey. I'm definitely not going to be stacking it in the rain with these serrated rubber wedges - yay, a first. These are heaven to wear and when we first received in the sample last year I fell in love.
Daria cowboy boots by Sambag in suede stone - Loving wearing these at the moment with little dresses and jumpers over the top. bare legs or super skinny pants/tights is a must when wearing a slouchy boot like these. I've got them in navy too.

Princess Polly

Okay enough with this blogging hiatus! We're back into the swing of things after a busy Christmas and New Years period which saw Jodie in KL and Dubai and me in Byron Bay and Lismore. (I win obviously.) So here's my first post for the new year which started over a month ago!

I bought a skirt online the other night and it has just arrived. To clarify I did not actually buy this skirt with my own money, Jodie did. She bought it for me because she ruined a new dress of mine, she put a navy tie dye dress in the washing machine with a light load and subsequently ruined one of her new dresses as well. Such a laundry novice.

But I still love her and I especially love that she bought me a tutu which I have been wanting for about 7 years (no joke) So thank you Jobie.

This little skirt is from Princess Polly, I bought it Wednesday night and it arrived to me at work today in a gorgeous little pink bag and wrapped in pink tissue. Sooooo cute!

Summer Sundays

Jo and I got up nice and early Sunday morning to head to the beach but when we got to the station found out there were no trains running on the Eastern Suburbs line so there was no Bondi for us!! It was pretty sad, but after the initial hissy fit we decided to walk to Victoria park pool. I also got to have a bit of a play around with my new camera - the Panasonic Lumix LX5.

My Summer essentials - Iphone so I can play brain training to make my smartness even smarter and also Fashion Fix (oh my gaawd love that game - dressing tweens for various social outings like Ice skating and a party where a cute boy will be is definitely my idea of fun!) And then Mecca Lip De-Luscious SPF 15 my all time fav day time lip balm. Couldn't recommend it enough.

A perfect sky with just the occasional cloud and I didn't even get burnt. Hallelujah.

Not pleasant.

So I spent most of my Saturday at the hairdressers, some might find that really annoying but for me it's pure bliss.. Come on who doesn't enjoy the endless supply of coffee and magazines!? Oh and the fact that you leave with a fresh new do. Clicks fingers.

Now usually I am a loyal customer of Noddy's on King, which is in Newtown. I believe they use the KMS range which I have tried and would re-buy. The downfall is the price, you're looking at $200 + for a full head of colour and if you're a little short in the coin department that feels like a shit load of cash to spend on something that is already dead!

To solve this dilemma Eryn went hunting for a cheaper option, and found a super sleek salon called Bauhaus Hair which is on Powell st in Waterloo. Lets just say she was the test dummy, there was no way I was going to sacrifice the 2 strands of hair that I have! It was a success and she only paid $156 for a full head of foils and a toner, which I think is totally reasonable.

Now for my experience. I love the design of the salon and the complimentary head massage you receive on arrival with your choice of essential oil. Nice touch Bauhaus. Kristy did my hair and she was super fast and the colour came out perfect, she finished it off with a quick trim and a blow dry. Then I paid..$193.00?! Confused? Yes I was too, but I later worked out its a hefty $70 for a cut!!!! Now if you have super fine hair like me and you pretty much just need your ends done its kind of a rip off.. hmmm.

So my overall decision on this salon is that they are great at colouring and they also offer great length extensions. However unless I need a hair cut make over I refuse to pay that much, if you're unhappy with your hairdresser give this place a go and perhaps keep the cut for the talents at Just Cuts!

I was well prepared and I took some before and after photos (the before is after a few too many Friday night drinks.)

I wore my new Topshop trousers that I picked up when I was in Dubai to work during the week. I wore them with a Sambag Indi tee, Mulberry leather Bayswater bag, Sambag Indigo sandals and a Lovisa ring.

So I got my new camera (weeeeuuuuwwwww) so naturally an impromtu photo shoot with our nail polish collection unfolded (blush.) But how pretty do the colours look!? A few half full bottles had to sit this one out so a big apology to two of my faves lucky lucky lavender and mod about you who had to hang back on the rack. We're at the 60 mark now but it's still not enough!

What up ya'll?!

I'm back from my trip to Dubai (and my 3 week hiatus from blogging), but I'm here now with new purchases to share!

I stopped by M.A.C (nah duh) and picked up 4 new lipsticks, and being the kind person that I am I gave one to my Mum and one to a friend, but the other 2 are all mine, and sometimes Eryn's if she asks nicely and doesn't just go into my make up bag and take it and put it in her own make up bag and then a week later when I'm searching for it put's it back in my make up bag and tries to convince me it's been in there the whole time and that I need to learn to look a little harder.

Ok I feel better now. Anyway back to M.A.C, it was actually kind of hard for me to find something I liked since I'm not really loving the Tartan Tale range, however I did pick up 'Chatterbox' which is another pink that caught my eye. Then there's 'Up The Amp' which is a vivid purple in a semi gloss finish. This can be a tricky colour to wear as if the rest of your make up is too heavy you're gonna look like a little girl that raided her Mums make up draw (that or Latoya Jackson.) So my tips for wearing a purple lipstick is to keep the rest of your make up to a minimum, just a coating of mascara and more of a dewy look base, and maybe opt for a bronzer rather than a blush so you don't look too pink and purple.

Other things I picked up while I was there include the new Paco Rabanne fragrance 'Lady Million' and 'Boss' by Hugo Boss. I fell in love with Lady Million the moment I saw the big gold diamond packaging and the scent actually lived up to the ridiculous ad on TV. The smell is sweet yet woody, not too girly but not too .... ahhh .... mature. With notes of mandarin, raspberry, vanilla and mint I love this for a night time scent.

Boss is more of a flirty day time scent, it's pretty, it's warm and it comes in a nice clean cut bottle. Enough said.

Next I will have to show you the clothes I bought.

Colour Of The Day

OPI Tickle My Francey - a creamy beige like the colour of coffe ice cream - yum ! I'm loving this colour sick atm, not just because it blends with my pale skin tone quite nicely (on Jodie's slightly darker skin it kind of make's her look like she has no fingernails - like beige frog fingers, eww) but it is a perfect neutral for the working week and it doesn't look too bad on my broken natural nails. Yes you heard correctly, the acrylics are off. What a tragedy! But my nails needed this well deserved break.

Getting them off hurt like a bitch, I could barely deal with the sheet touching them as it felt so strange to me! But with a little coat of Sally Hansen 'Hard as Nails' and a splash of ol' Tickle My Francey they're not looking too mangey.

OPI chic print nail transfers

As I'm spending a Saturday night home alone I think it's time for me to catch up on some blogging. I'd like to say I've been away on holidays or off doing awesome things every night but truth is I've just being really really lazy and have been watching season 5 of Dexter and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. (Loving both btw, especially Dexter. Wow.)

So here's what has been happening ... I tried out some of the new OPI nail transfers. They're called chic prints, a terrible name but they're pretty cool. They didn't last as long as I think they should have but I'm really rough on my nails, I also have acrylics so I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Maybe the adhesive would work better on a natural nail... Anyway they lasted 2 days until I was fiddling with the corners and pulling them off. If you were to try them out I would recommend having someone else do it for you as it's really hard to do your own.

Instructions are pretty simple but it's harder than you think to smooth out the bubbles. Remember contacting your school books? Yeah it's that hard.

I bought mine from the beauty wholesaler on level 7 in the Gowing building in the city (Next to Supre and Lincraft) They were $10.95. If you haven't been here before I would definitely recommend. They have everything from false lashes to hairdryers, all waxing needs to fake hair. Love this place! So much cheaper than in stores.

So here's my nails (modeled beautifully with some popcorn while at the cinema I might add :P Jo had to get her hands in the pic even though her nail polish is much less impressive than mine ;)

How cool is the print I got? It reminded me of Missoni and Tetris - A winning combo no doubt!

So the verdict is in and I would recommend these transfers for something cute and fun to wear over the weekend, just don't expect longevity unless you use the pads of your fingers to do everything and have amazing personal control and can stop yourself from fiddling with them and lifting up the corners!

Holiday Wish List

In 2 weeks time whilst you are all slaving away at your jobs I will be kicking back in a plane on my way to Dubai.. Jealous much? It is going to be a 4 day family affair but believe me shopping stands high on my priority list, with certain days already set aside for me to give all forms of credit cards a good work out (sorry Dad hehe)

As I like to be as prepared as possible I have made a wish list of all the things I want and I thought I would share it with you.. and perhaps make you just that bit more jealous ;)

I am literally taking an empty suitcase and am planning on filling it full of goodies, starting (obviously!) with Makeup. Now I have done some investigating and it seems M.A.C is a lot cheaper over there so I'll be stocking up on my Favourites....

I am sad and excited to say my wish list does not end here, that was only the cosmetic side of things! I can't seem to narrow my clothing list down so I have decided to wing it and see how I go, however I can tell you there will be plenty of time spent in Top Shop, Zara, Forever Young, New Look and H&M.

The excitement is exhausting, and I will be sure to update you on how my shopping extravaganza goes!

why am I attracted to things boys will hate ?

Riddle me this ladies, do you wear a sexy silken nightie with lace trim detailing and a slit up the side to bed? No of course not, how impractical, you wear floral long johns and a t-shirt you've had since you were 15. It's so soft after so many washes!

Now I'm not saying your boyfriend doesn't love you in your long john's but at some point he has probably thought (definitely not said - bitch knows what's good for him) "wtf is with those long john's when you can buy those hot little nightie's!?"

I hate to break it to you but your choice in pyjama probably isn't the only thing that confuses him. Here's a few of my personal favourite items that I don't think will really get the boys hearts a flutter.

Large and obnoxious statement jewellery
A guy would wonder why this particular ring is so long, I'm weirdly attracted to it for that exact reason in an unexplainable way.

High waisted tapered trousers
Pants that taper in at the ankle generally don't appeal to your run of the mill male. They bag around the crotch but to me they are heaven. Comfortable and boyish, perfect paired with brogues and a satchel bag.

Wedges - Or more specifically wedge boots

We love them because they're more comfortable than most heels and there's something about the structural shaping of the wedge and the somewhat 'Mad Max' style sex appeal of a combat heeled boot. For men however they appear chunky and strangely futuristic, maybe they're just frightened because when worn you look like some kind of a post apocalyptic traveller who hides a small blade on the inside of her left foot.

Oversized Cable Knits
I get it - When it's oversized it makes you look bigger than you are. But all I wanna do is chuck it on with ripped denim shorts and khaki ankle boots! Guys don't get to see boobs or waist, get over it dude!

Novelty faux fur hats

I wish I could see your face right now to read your reaction because I have a feeling this may just be my own personal obsession and not one shared by most. I love this hat! Mostly because it is ridiculously cute and it would look perfect with baby pink mittens while I make snow angels! But sexy it ain't.

Floral Cropped Long Johns
Now these are pushing serious boundaries, unlike they're longer brother they show off the knee (which shouldn't really be a focal point) they're also white and they're patterned like your Grandma's tablecloth. I love them.

So who knows the real reason as to why we love these strange fashion pieces.
Maybe it's because we want to be a part of an elite girls club where boys 'just don't get it.'
Isn't the myth that we dress for other women anyway?
Whatever the reason as long as your best friends like it - it was a good buy, and if he questions it be sure to raise an eyebrow and say "Babe, you just wouldn't understand."

Lovely Lilac Eyes

Since my lipstick obsession has really taken hold I have not paid much attention to my collection of eye shadows (I have a shameful amount!) So while cleaning out my makeup drawers on the weekend I came across some really pretty lilac colours which made me want to pass on some tips about how to pull off this very pretty look.

Purple tones really make brown eyes pop, green eyes sparkle like jewels and if applied right can also do a little something for you blue eyed babes. The danger however lies in the pink tones, which when worn around the eye can make you look sick or like you've been on a huge bender, definitely not a good look!

If you want to avoid this look I suggest applying a wash of your chosen colour across the whole lid, then bring the colour down under your lower lash line and brighten the inner corner of your eye with a lighter colour. The part which is really going to draw peoples attention to your eyes is lining the inner rim with a black kohl pencil, and applying lashings of black mascara. If you have an extra 5 minutes throw on some lashes... why not right!?

Keep your skin clean and don't be too heavy with the bronzer, in fact this look especially suits porcelain skin, dewy cheeks and a glossy lip.

When Jo and I first met we one day thought it would be fun to do a photo strip in the booth at Broadway Shopping Centre. (Where we both used to work.) Since then we have become good friends, better friends, housemates, roommates even! and now Jodie is like my big mean bossy big sister!

Who wears short shorts !?!?

Wave a stick around nowadays and chances are you'll hit a girl wearing a pair of denim cut-offs. And that doesn't even have to be a long stick, a meter long would suffice. Now these aren't your regular denim shorts, no they are made to look like their Mum's old Levi's just cut in half... No wait thirds, or probably even quarters. They are made to look like denim underwear basically.

Now I love denim shorts, love love love. But I don't want to wear something that every single other girl out there is wearing. I also don't want half my ass hanging out the bottom of them either, so heres my tips for buying denim shorts this Summer and not looking like a Supre/General Pants junkie.

Do not pull the pockets out the bottom of the shorts. I know it's negative to start with a 'don't' but if you want to get serious about not looking like every other 14 - 25 year old girl kickin' it on Bondi Beach or at BDO then don't do this!
Think about your proportions and figure when choosing denim shorts. Not every style is going to suit every shape. For instance if you have a small waist and a rounder ass then a high rise short will probably look best. If you have strong thighs go for a pair a fraction longer and maybe even in a culotte shape. If you have a long torso and shorter legs then a micro pair in a high waist could look fantastic. It's all about creating the illusion of a leaner longer shape so if you're in a change room and you have to question whether they look good or not, chances are they're not the best fit for you.
Denim was created for comfort so make sure the ones you buy are comfortable to wear. Sit down in the change room if possible as this is where many shorts become unstuck. Are they digging into your thighs and gaping at the back? Are they creating epic muffin top? Make sure you really ask yourself these questions as you're never only going to be standing upright in them so they need to look and feel good in other positions too.
Pocket placement. I've touched on this before in previous posts. I see too many super high waisted denim shorts where the pockets are halfway up the back. This does not under any circumstances look good. Basically it looks like you have a bum-back.
Sizing - Unlike jeans, denim shorts are not something you want to go a size down in. Infact they often look better that bit looser, it's so much more relaxed and effortless in Summer to not have fabrics clinging to you, and so much more comfortable!
Choose something simple. Studs, patchwork and distressing is cool but if you want longevity from yours then opt for something a little plainer. Trends come and go but a basic comfortable pair of denim shorts in a medium to dark wash should see you through many Summers.

THE DO'S

Nicole's shorts are a great length and there's a good amount of distressing, and note the loose fit around the thighs for comfort.

Rachel Bilson shows you don't have to wear teeny tiny shorts to look cute, the cuff detailing makes them look that little more tailored too.

Whit Port looks Summery and very pretty in these shorts paired with a loud print up top. Love the boyfriend style denim short with the lower crotch.

Short but not offensive and a great combo with a button down shirt. Jessica Alba's choice are a no fuss option in a darker denim.

THE DON'TS

Don't look like a tragic version of your former self.

Katie Holmes shows how not to wear a longer style of shorts. That would be with a button down shirt and full coverage sandals. Way too conservative and plain dowdy!

Vanessa Hudgens takes a leisurely stroll to Starbucks without her pants on. Oh no.. wait, there's a scrap of denim in there.

Don't try to make your shorts look fancier than they are. They're denim shorts, they're not meant to be worn with a structured blazer and a Birkin bag. That goes to you to Kristen Cavallari!

The Lindsanity couldn't possible let just one trend slip by her. Here she is taking the pockets out the bottom to a whole new level. Thanks Lindsay for showing us how we don't want to look!

Khloe Kardashian, you're so pretty

First an update from my last post!!!

I am super happy to report that I will be getting those MAC lipsticks I wanted (thank you Mum!) This is the best news I've had all week, sad yes but even sadder that I am checking my post box every day if by some miracle they are arrive early! I will give you some feedback on them soon.

Onto other things...

Lets begin with my obsession with Khloe Kardashian, I really feel like this sasquatch (as dubbed by Eryn) doesn't get enough credit, so I thought I would shine some light on how great she always looks, and perhaps give some tips on how to create the same kind of makeup at home.

Eyes

When you do a smokey eye it's always best to do your eye makeup before you apply foundation. This means you won't have to worry about the fallout from the eye shadows ruining your base.

Start with a concealer on the inside area of the nose bridge and eye and then press an eye primer onto your lids and sweep a base shadow all over.

Next use a Khol pencil along the top of the lash line, don't stress about getting it straight since you need to next use a small brush to blend the line anyway - This is what creates the smokey effect. Set that pencil with a black shadow and an angle brush - wiggle the colour into the lashes to get rid of any gaps.

Now take a medium coloured shadow like Kid from MAC and press it into the lid with your brush - look straight ahead at yourself in the mirror and just bring the colour slightly above the natural crease of your eye. This will help to make your eyes look bigger and create a nice shape.

Using the same colour apply under the eye close to the lash line and blend downwards, run the black pencil in your waterline to intensify the look.

Using a medium fluffy brush and the base colour you started with blend away any harsh edges along the crease.

Curl your lashes and apply a couple of coats of mascara, and if you've got them stick on those fake lashes !

Skin

Wipe away all the fall out from the eye make-up and apply your moisturiser.

Use a full coverage foundation, something with a slight shimmer to it like NARS sheer glow.

Under the eye area and down the cheek apply your light reflecting concealer, the best ones out there are Make Up Store Reflex Cover and YSL Touche Eclat.

I would say Khloe is using some kind of mineral powder to get that dewy glowing effect. Now I may be a little bias but if you haven't already got some go and buy Make up Stores Wonder Powder... it is incredible. This is applied in a circular motion over the face, paying less attantion to the t-zone area.

Pick a pink coloured blush to help lift the makeup.. something like Fleur or Well Dressed from MAC.

Lips

Wear whatever you are comfortable with but I would say something pink and light to keep the attention focused on the eyes.

Best Dressed Couple

So I may have cried actual real tears when my beloved Vampire Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) started dating Kate Bosworth, but I have SOMEHOW managed to control my sadness and I can honestly say I am happy for you Alexander... mostly, anyway whatever.

Although I don't want to give any unnecessary props to Kate Bosworth I must admit they are a fine looking couple and they wear some great clothes. It can be hard to compliment your other half's outfit with your own without looking matchy-matchy or that you've tried too hard but somehow in each of these pictures Alexander and Kate look laid back, effortless and like a super cool and stylish couple.

Love Kate's tie-dyed dress and super blonde middle parted hair.

Jeans and a white tee is a winning combo for guys and girls, nice sunnies just top off the look.

Double denim on the A'Skars is a winner for sure and Kate looks feminine yet relaxed in her white-washed boyfriend jeans.

Good crochet is hard to come by and this little dress is near perfect. I love a good cap on a boy too!

Good basics for guys and a cute dress for girls will always look good.

The nude dress and orange based lipstick on Kate next to the black on black of Alexander's outfit make a really stand out red carpet look. None of that matching kerchief to the dress bs!

False Lashes

If I had to tell you one thing to buy that would make a real difference to your usual makeup look I would have to say fake lashes. It's hard to find a celebrity that doesn't fake it on the red carpet and if you were to take a note out of the Kardashian crew's look you'd probably sleep with them on - Although I don't really recommend this!

I am going to be honest, sticking lashes on yourself is not an easy task. I would have to say if you're having issues getting them on it's best to leave them off because the worse case scenario is to end up looking like Katie Price's baby creature child Princess.

If you don't have anyone help you stick them on I recommend cutting the lash in half so you end up with four pieces, that way you can just stick them to the outer third of the eye. This look is also a little more natural.

If you want to wear the whole lashes strip you may still need to cut it down to the size of your eye's. Now this is where a lot of people get it wrong. Wearing the lash too big drags the eyes down and will probably end up falling off during the night.

The lashes are the last things you want to put on, so make sure you have all your eye makeup done and your (real) lashes are curled and and have a bit of mascara on so they're ready to go. You can always add more after you have applied them to help merge your natural lashes with the fake ones.

I always wiggle some of M.A.C fluid line close to lashed just to make the whole thing look a little more natural and hide any mistakes!

I use DUO glue which is a white latex based glue that will dry clear. However if you have a smokey eye happening I do recommend using a black latex glue, Make Up Store does a good one. I pop the glue on the back of my hand and hold the lashes with tweezers, run them through the glue wait a few second for it to go tacky and then hope for the best and stick them on!

Hopefully you will open your eyes and have full flirty lashes something a little like this.

I am absolutely devastated that I've missed out on M.A.C's most recent limited addition collection Venomous Villains.. How did I not know about this?!?! I am so upset I spent a good chunk of my night calling all the stores around Sydney trying to track down two particular lipstick's but have had no luck! So when desperate times call for desperate measures I had to look elsewhere, I had to call my Mum... In Dubai, to see if they had the same stock over there. Volume Million Lashes Mascara My Ass!

Do you know how long I spent in Kmart holding two mascara's from the same brand trying to decide which one to choose? No? Its probably for the best because it was a really long time, and even then I still chose wrong!
I ended up buying the Volume Million Lashes by Loreal.
It's not that I hate it, it just doesn't compare to the Loreal Double Extension Mascara with the added Renewal Serum that I was using before. I find that the Million Lashes mascara stays wet for a really long time and because of this the lashes don't hold their curl, and I honestly didn't notice any difference in the volume let alone a million lashes... Despite all that if you like a light mascara that is clump free this could be perfect for you. For me though I'll be going back to the Double Extension Mascara which I swear made my lashes look thicker and healthier (if that is even possible!) Jodie xo

I was walking past M.A.C on the weekend and I thought it would be a complete sin not to pop in... 10 minutes later I left a happy customer with a new red lipstick called Ruby Woo. The main reason I chose this colour from the sea of reds that M.A.C has on offer is simply due to its matte finish, allowing it to be versatile enough to wear simply blotted onto the lips or glossed up to make it really stand out. A warning though, your lips have to be in tip top condition for this to look good, so get a toothbrush and some lip balm and buff away any dead skin before applying.

American Apparel Summer 5

American Apparel is ridiculously overpriced yes but they still make some of the best basics around. Here's my top 5 picks from the Australian AA website to see you through Summer.

Ok so these aren't really Summery but they are sooooo cute. The easiest way to pull off the sock look is to make it appear you didn't try very hard. But in actual fact you really do need to put a little thought into this one because you don't want to venture into German tourist territory. These socks with pumps and a little dress could be way cute, they could also look adorbs with a baggy tee and pretty ballet flats. Think Chloe Sevingy and not Ugly Betty.

The V-neck tee is a no-brainer. Wear it with ripped boyfriend jeans or tucked into a high waisted skirt, either way it's gonna work. A v-neck is so much easier to pull off than a crew neck. It creates shape and balances proportions, especially for curvy girls.

Now I'm taking a gamble on these jeans as I haven't tried them on myself yet but I've heard a lot of good things about them and they look pretty great in the picture. When buying jeans make sure you look at the pocket placement on the ass, too far apart makes you look wider and too close together gives the illusion that you're clenching! You'll know if the pockets are in the right spot, your bum will look peachy and nicely rounded. I really do love high waisted jeans, I think they make girls legs look long and slender and they hug the waist and hips and create a sleek and smooth silhouette.

Yay for plaid shirts! I love that this one is sheer as it gives an edge of sexiness to the flanno look. The shape of this shirt is effortless and it does look great tucked into the little shorts in the pic. I'd wear it out at night over a tight black dress with black ankle boots.

AA leotards are unbeatable. Coming in an array of colours you can mix and match with items you already have in your wardrobe. Only problem is wearing a bra due to the deep scoop in the back. These are your options, go without (fine for the darker colours but probably not in the nude or baby pink) Wear a fun coloured bra and use the straps as an accessory or get one of those bras which has the strap all the way down the lower part of the back.

Ty cleared up my number 1 question by saying it was "home made." Thank God! I pray there's not a designer out there crafting up these horrors for the general public. Tyra I know you love to stand out but c'mon, just put on another jumpsuit or something... Because you look like a high fashion burglar, and how did you re-apply your lipstick?? You can smize all you like baby the fact still remains you cut up a pair of tights, put it on your head and went out in public. Seriously I could go on, I've got jokes about hair nets, fishing nets, what her face looked like once she took this mask off... Not fierce Ty, not fierce at all.

I went on a mini OPI shopping spree the other night and bought 5 new colours! Yeahhhhh! I feel a little guilty now but the look on Jodies face was priceless when she saw them added neatly into our growing collection - which I colour co-ordinate impeccably ;)
My favourite colour of the new 5 has to be Glitzerland from the new Swiss collection. A shimmery reflective gold - with strong particles so it doesn't look wishy-washy on the nail.

Summer Beauty/Body Must Haves

With summer on our doorstep I step it up a notch when it comes to my personal beauty regime... (Well there is more on display after all.)

Here are a few of my summer vitals that I myself have already bought.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser. I swear by this inexpensive face wash to keep breakouts at bay as well as control shine developing through out the day.

Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion. I am not usually a fan of Fake Tan mainly because of the fear of looking orange plus the smell is instantly off putting. However through much trial and error I do give credit to this gradual tanner, the smell is minimal and the effects are subtle.

Mineral Pro SPF 30+. I hate to admit it but I never use a sunscreen unless I go to the beach and even then its is only SPF15.. Kinda pointless really! I find most sunscreens for the face make me break out or leave a white film on the skin. That was until I tried this product from a girl at work. I highly recommend this sunscreen for daily use, the smell is amazing and i actually feel like its improved the texture of my skin.

Bohemian Beach Spray by David Babaii. For beach hair in a bottle this salt spray is perfect, with ingredience like jojoba and cucumber your hair won't feel dry and the texture won't be brittle and crunchy.

Lip De-Luscious from Mecca. This has to be the greatest lip balm for Summer! It contains SPF 25 and all the good stuff like pomegranate seed oil, vitamin E and a slight pink shimmer.

Dolce & Gabbana L'Imperatrice Fragrance (number 3). All the delicious scents of Summer are in this bottle. There's aromas of sweet citrus fruits, watermelon, kiwi and musk, this perfume keeps it nice and light. Love Jo

Summer Wardrobe Part 1

As it creeps into Summer it's time to start planning your warm season wardrobe(Sorry to all our O.S readers who are heading into Winter!)

Now I take it you're all buffed and polished since Jodies body scrubbing post so now it's time for the fun stuff. The clothes!

I've got a few tips to share on what's in for the next few months and hopefully give you a little inspiration on getting out there and purchasing yourself a few new key Summer pieces.

Now every magazine under the sun is telling you what's in and what's out and Trinny and Suzanna are harping on about neutrals and key pieces like floral maxi's and gold leaf earrings from Diva (Their Wesfield ad - YUK) but this is the Eryn list of SS 10/11 fashion, it's pretty basic but that's my style yo! We'll start with 5 key items.

Key Item 1: The Denim Jacket

For Summer I suggest a good fitting light denim jacket. Possibly with a little distressing or fading. Sometimes the smaller size can be better even if you can't button it up because it fits better around the arms and shoulders. (You shouldn't really be buttoning it up anyway it looks a little too cowboyish. Even though they are smokin' hot, you're a girl so no.)

Key Item 2: The White Shirt

An oversized white shirt in a soft cotton is a trans-seasonal piece that can really up-date your wardrobe. They are easily worn with leggins, havianas and a floppy felt hat for easy day wear or over a tight black dress, bare legs and big-ass black wedges for a killer night time look.
WARNING: Only purchase one that covers your ass.

Key Item 3: The Black Dress

I'm not talking about a teeny tiny black mini that you will wear that one time after you've been starving yourself all week. This needs to be a no-brainer cute black dress that can be dressed up or down, that you can throw on when you've got 5 minutes to meet your friends and know you look good. Here's my pick from Asos.

Key Item 4: The Printed Mini Skirt

A tight short mini skirt with a loose singlet or t-shirt is super sexy without trying too hard. You can mix it up with a pattern on the bottom and plain block colour on the top or vice versa. The top has to be loose though, this is imperative to the "I'm a major babe but not a skank" look we are going for here! I am loving this Asos galaxy print mini - Perfect with grey on the top.

Key Item 5: The Bed Jacket

What is a bed jacket you may ask? Well it's a loose fitting jacket that covers the arms and chest that was once worn by our Nanna's while they sat up in bed reading their witty novels. But it has been updated so you can now where it out in the day or night! OMG amazing and clever and comfortable! Bed Jackets look super pretty over jeans or with a maxi dress. Try them out in crochet or beading.

I will do another 5 key pieces over the next week or so, and I'll include shoes next time!

If you're like me and every time you see a pair of thick gold hoops paired with a slick high pony you let out a little "giiiiiiiirl" chances are you're a fan of the 'ghetto fabulous' look. And there is no-one who does ghetto fabulous better than Amber Rose. When Kanye and Amber broke up I was deeply saddened, mainly because I love Kanye and feel he needs the coolest (wait scratch that... freshest) chick on the block.
So I've compiled a few of my favourite Amber Rose looks for you to peruse at your leisure ;)

Basically I think Amber Rose is totally bitchin' and she should at some point in her life play Mystique in X-Men because she was born to strut naked down hallways.

Line them up

One of my favourite and most used makeup looks is the Cat eye flick, only for those people with semitrical eyes..not you Eryn you will never be able to wear this look with those hooded lids of yours, just let it go!
I have tried pretty much everything on the market to get the perfect flick but I have to say the winner goes to MAC fluid line in Black track. The gel formula makes it really easy to apply and I find it best to dip the back of your brush into the product and wipe it on the back of your hand then apply from there, that way your brush has a really good coating of the product.
Even though it wears really well I still like to wiggle some black eyeshadow over the top of the line to make sure it stays on till I want to take it off!
Just a tip for you all, I was spending quiet a bit of money on expensive angle brushes to use with my fluid line but then I discovered art stores do really fine synthetic angle brushes for a fraction of the price.

As I welcome spring with open arms, it's time to get stuck into the spring cleaning... I'm talking about buffing away all the dry dull skin from my body, slapping on the moisturiser, throwing away the tights and getting out the bare legs! Luckily I've been buffing away throughout Winter so I thought I'd share my tips on where to spend your money to get great results.

Firstly i recommend Body Brushing, not only does it get rid of all the dead skin but it is super good for your circulation and is gentle enough to do every day. Use the dry brush before you get in the shower - starting at your feet and brushing upwards toward the heart. Spend a little more time around the upper thigh area since this seriously helps to reduce the appearence of cellulite. I got my brush from the Body Shop but you can find cheaper ones from places like Priceline or Boots.

For something a little simpler yet smells delicious I go for St Ives Exfoliating Apricot scrub. The jojoba beads are really gentle and apricot oil is there to help nourish and hydrate the skin. The only down fall with this is you have to be careful not to get too wet before you use it otherwise you will get more of a body wash then an exfoliating effect.

I tend to exfoliate my body 3 times a week and i have to say my favorite way to do it is also the cheapest and thats by using the gloves which you can buy pretty much anywhere, however through much investigation the best have to be from Body Shop. I like how you can just use what ever body wash you've got on the go and get scrubbing.

Whatever your choice may be don't forget to finish off with a super rich moisturiser, like the Body Shop's strawberry body butter, it smell is delicious!

(He usually only comes out during Miss Universe and the Beat the Stylist segment on 'The Morning Show' but he was here and he was just going on and on and on and on and on.)

Seriously though, how can anyone look at that and not fall head over heels for Michelle? Her face is perfection. It is so pretty it is making my eyes water. (I don't even know how exactly that's possible...I think they're glazing over with admiration for her beauty or something like that.) Please look for yourself below and tell me what you think!

Dixon Food Court

A bi-weekly hang out spot of ours is the Dixon Food Court in China Town. What a winner of a place, $8 soups and peach tea and lychee drink is alright with me any day of the week. We usually wander down on a Sunday and Tuesday. I definitely recommend.
But do not eat from the sizzling and hot pot place they will get your order wrong - Then tell you you didn't speak in English properly and refuse to change it and then what are you going to do, you're gonna have to eat it.

Coconut Water

Today at work we received the coconut water we ordered in. It's meant to be really good for the skin and very hydrating. It tastes just like coconuts - include the undertone of dirt they kind of have. Saying that though I quite like it, it's very refreshing and tastes best ice cold.

I'm sure many of you have a disaster story where you have gone to get your makeup done and the end result is an inch thick of foundation and some God awful blue eye shadow! So I am on a mission to get the word out that the best makeup is the kind where you simply highlight the good and cover the bad, so when friends say, "Your makeup look great!" You can respond with "Oh thanks, but I'm actually hardly wearing any, I just jumped out of bed!"

So my tips for the perfect natural makeup start with your skin, and it really comes down to a good foundation or concealer in the right colour for your skin and not the colour you wish you were. For most of us we don't even need to wear a full foundation, so take some time looking in the mirror - Suss out the red blotchy places and the dark circles and simply cover those areas leaving the rest free of makeup so your skin can breath.

Next get your hands on a mineral powder that has some kind of light reflecting particles such as mother of pearl in it, this is gonna be your best friend because that's what is going to give your skin the luster and glow. The best kind of mineral powders are ones with more of a bronze toned to it so you can use it like you would a bronzer, plus they tend to be a little less orange and get you the perfect sun kissed look.

For the eyes it comes down to seeing what shades of eye shadow compliment your eye colour and how to apply them to suit your particular eye shape. To make it easy shades in bronze and gold suit pretty much everyone. So your ultimate goal when applying shadow is to create an almond shaped eye (apparently the most desired eye shape, however i may have to disagree because i do love you hooded eye people out there.)

Now don't forget your eyebrows because they set off the whole look for the makeup and are there to frame the eyes.. I could go on for ages about brows but I am gonna keep it short and sweet... keep the shape full and natural and if you're a little hairy in that area, tame it. Believe me we will revisit this!

Last but not least the finishing touches. Mascara and lots of it. When you want your lashes to look fluffy and full just wipe your mascara wand a little before you use it to help avoid clumping.
For lips i would say blot on a natural colour and then drench yourself in gloss, something pretty and peachy.

Here are some examples of celebrities who get it right every time(well at least their MUA's do) with the natural bronzed look and a picture of my interpretation and a list of what i used to get the look.
I hope this helps to eliminate some of the orange, heavy foundations out there... Well one can dream:)

Gap Year

If you've flipped through a fashion magazine of late there's a strong chance you've seen a surprising new trend pop up. I'm talking about a gap between the two front teeth. This surprises me only because a gap was often considered somewhat of a facial flaw and it makes me happy to see that as a society we are beginning to diversify more from the 'cookie cutter' image of beauty. Of course we will always celebrate the Christie Turlington's and Elizabeth Hurley's of the world but it's nice to see models like Jess Hart and Lara Stone flaunt their so called 'flaw' on the covers of Vogue, W, ID and V.
The gap is just one example out of many in the change of perception when it comes to what is and isn't attractive. We're now seeing more and more cultural diversity in the fashion industry along with different body shapes, moles, big noses, ears that stick out, unruly hair... Bring it on I say.

ugly-pretty

You've seen them on the street and in the magazines and it looks like they're here to stay for a little while longer. It's the ugly-pretty shoe craze that has taken women's feet and turned them from looking dainty and feminine to chunky and well a little alien-esque at times. Some hate it (I'm looking at you straight men) and others love it - personally I consider myself one of these 'others'.

Now there can be a fine line between ugly-good and ugly-bad. For example;

This is ugly-bad. I feel like most people would know that a platformed perforated leather heel with toe divider generally isn't a good idea. (Apparently not in the design team at Scooter though.)

Now this pair of Top Shop clogs to many people would be seen as pretty daggy. But look closer and you will see that they are actually quite adorable. It could be the particular shade of tan, the little tassels or simply good craftmanship - whatever it is though these clogs receive an A+ for ugly-pretty.

It is clog season thanks to Chanel - And these DVF Octavia clogs are heaven sent! I love the three tiers of the wooden heel. Again another ugly-pretty winner.

We'll finish off with this lovely pair of pumps by Tabitha Simmons. Perfect for any bad ass librarian. Gold stars all round for this pair.

So next time you begin an eye roll at a what you think is a fugly pair of heels double check the wearers not just some super cool chick that knows how to work the ugly-pretty trend.

With a crazy week at work finally over I am super excited that it's the weekend! Eryn and I went for a bit of a wander around this morning, checked out the local garage sales and ended up finding a cute cafe in Chippendale where we stuffed our faces with BLATS yes BLT's with avocado.. And they made some seriously delicious frappes, mixed berries for me and strawberry and mango for Eryn, the perfect start to a sunny Saturday! .. Yum Yum!!!

So i managed to sneak a pic of my new MAC lipstick before I headed off to work yesterday. It's a pretty vibrant colour so to apply I just blotted it on with my finger and kept the rest pretty natural (well you know as natural as my makeup gets!)

I've been so impressed lately with Drew Barrymore's outfits. She's been doing the rounds for that new movie of hers 'Going The Distance' (Which I really want to see because the trailer looks super cute and I do love Justin Long. And I think they would have great chemistry seeing as they are dating. Wait... Are they dating? I'm not actually sure, they may have broken up.) Um ok so... Oh yeah anyways her outfits, they're cute huh? They still have a very Drew Barrymore easy bohemian feel but they're just that little bit more polished. Now we'll begin with the bad...

Channelling Lady Gaga's less famous and more socially retarded sister Lady Lame. (I think I deserve that title for that call but I've got nothing else so it's staying. Deal with it!)

This is interesting. Like a stunning sack of unwashed potatoes.

Now this is more like it - Albeit a little Ashlee Simpson-esque I think this is a really cool outfit and I love her navy velvet shoes.

What a gem! She looks like a shiny sparkley Christmas Angel sent from heaven in a pair of pumps, and this fly colouring hair trend was made for Drew. Love it!

I spend a lot of time and money trying out the latest in skin care products and devices, and i have gotten my hands on something I've never seen before and it's pretty exciting stuff (thank you work for providing me with such fun.) Introducing Skin Inject... A skin needling technology that was designed by a bunch of plastic surgeons, dermatologist and engineers (so you know this is one serious device!) They come in a variety of needle measurements and the one for us regular people to use at home is the 0.15mm.

So you may be asking yourselves, "Why on earth would i want to roll mini needles across my face!?" Firstly it's not as scary as it sounds and the pain is minimal. Plus the list of benefits is endless. From stimulation of collagen to reduction in appearance of acne scarring. To begin with I used a hydrating serum applied to clean skin and simply rolled the device in small hash like patterns over the surface of my skin... I went a little red and felt a bit of a tingle happen, but that's to be expected and after I had covered every inch of my face I popped on a calming moisturizer and headed to bed, excited to see what i would wake up too, which leads me on to the results..

The most noticeable difference was the glow my skin had the next day aswell as feeling firmer (always a bonus!) My makeup seemed to glide on smoothly and evenly. The best part is your pack comes with a disinfectant spray and the device last for up to 6 months, with treatments as regular as once a day.

Today in my lunch break I went on a little adventure to the Zimmermann warehouse sale in Zetland with the lovely Jessie. I was there mainly to help her find a bikini for her upcoming Thailand trip, but you know... It is me so of course I bought something. (Blushes) Maybe two things...

I'm so excited about what I got though, I found the cutest bikini! I love the navy base with floral pattern, but really it was the cut that stole my heart. The little crop top is just too cute and I love the skimpy cut of the bottoms.
The sale wasn't amazing but if you're looking for a bikini I would definitely recommend. But be warned the change room is just one big open space so if it can be a little full on having to get your kit off in front of everyone else.
I also got some sandals which are really lovely, but in all honesty I didn't need them. But then again they were on sale. But c'mon Eryn you work for a shoe company. But we don't have any like this! (Welcome to my internal dialogue people.)
All in all I'm pretty damn happy with the days purchase but did punish myself a little for spending money by not spending any more throughout the day... That meant no lunch :( But there was biscuits in the office, and I did have a cup o' soup and Jo did cook a delicious dinner tonight. What a winner! xxx Ez

lilac lips

Eryn asked me this question today... "If you could only wear one lipstick colour for the rest of your life what would it be?"
My response.."Ez! are you crazy, that it the STUPIDEST question I've ever been asked... don't speak to me!"

At the beginning of the year I came to the realization that I love lipstick. Like as in I don't just enjoy and appreciated it but really truly love it. A lot of which I think has to do with good marketing. I'm such a sucker for pretty packaging, especially the limited additions from MAC!
So I decided to buy one lipstick every month for a year (and maybe a few sneaky ones here and there.)
Last week i finally got my hands on a shade from MAC called 'Saint Germain' in an amplified finish. This shade is one of their top sellers but was sold out for months. It is amazing! A gorgeous pinky-lilac tone that looks great lightly blotted onto the lips - perfect for the office, or if you want to really make the colour pop painted onto the lips for a real hit of Barbie goodness! My advice for wearing this is to keep the rest of the face quite natural, a light coating of mascara and a rosey pink blush for the cheeks.

As many people already know Jo and I have an unhealthy obsession with nail polish. Predominantly with OPI polishes, we're currently sitting on 48. Oh my god it makes me so happy to say that! But still we need more! The newest member to the family is from the Swiss collection and is called 'ski teal we drop' cuuuuuute! I love the names of this new collection, theres 'glitzerland' 'I'm Suzie and I'm a chocoholic' 'just a little rosti at this' 'colour so hot it berns' and then my favourite 'William tell me about OPI.' Haha, love it. So here is the one Jo bought...This is such a good colour, the perfect shade of teal. You should probably go buy it!

And here is an old and grainy photo of our collection - We've gotten another stand since then and a few more polishes. I'll have to take a new pic soon!

One of my most favourite things is bright watches, I am so obsessed with them I can't even walk through the QVB without stopping and staring longingly into the Swatch shop, no matter how much of a rush I'm in. Seriously though they make that store look so appealing with the rainbow window displays and the walls lined from floor to ceiling with watches. I already have a highlighter green timex that Jodie bought me (for no reason!?!) a couple of months ago but I am desperate for a lilac one now!

I'll have one in every colour please (except you orange)
